- The Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah war continues a year after the Hamas atrocities of October 7, 2023.
- 101 Israeli hostages remain captive underground in the Gaza strip. The IDF remains in various parts of Gaza above the ground.
- The IDF and Israeli air force is active in Southern Lebanon. Much of the leadership of Hezbollah has been eliminated, including Hassan Nasrallah, but Hezbollah missile and drone continue barrages into Israel.
- The Hezbollah killing of 12 Druze children playing football in Majdal Shams was the turning point at which Israel decided enough is enough – it’s time to make it safe for Israeli evacuees from the North (and South) to return to their homes.
- The Houthis have filed ballistic missiles at Israel and faced IDF retaliation twice on their port and energy facilities.
- The Iranians have twice filed barrages of ballistic missiles at Israel which were largely intercepted. IDF retaliation the first time in April 2024 was limited. IDF retaliation the second time on October 1, 2024 has not yet been avenged.
- There have been terror incidents in Jaffa, Beer Sgeva and the West Bank. There have been IDF counter terror air and ground operations in the West Bank.
- UN courts are pursuing cases against Israel alleging genocide by Israel and its leaders (Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant), but nothing against Hamas or Hezbollah.
- COMMENTS: Israelis don’t need a commission of inquiry to know that October 7, 2023 followed failures of intelligence and IDF back-up. But there are many thousands of evacuees from the North and South. Whether Western governments like it or not, until the evacuees return home, hostilities are likely to continue. In the meantime, US elections are due in a month under the shadow of the Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah war and the Ukraine war. All in all, Israel gave peace a chance and seems to be paying the price.
